Directions to Cape Maclear

By Car

By private car Cape Maclear is 5 hours from Lilongwe and Blantyre. Or if you are coming from Monkey Bay, its just a 30 minute drive.

From either Lilongwe or Blantyre side:

  • Take the Road to Monkey Bay, there are signs along the way.
  • 5 Km before Monkey Bay take the turnoff to the left at a sign to Cape Maclear.
  • Follow the road until it ends at the National Park gates and turn right onto the unpaved road.
  • After 1km you will find a white building on the left hand side, this is Thumbi View Lodge.
